Easy Chicken Shawarma at Home (Without a Rotisserie!)
Skip the takeout—this homemade Chicken Shawarma is unbelievably easy, packed with Middle Eastern spices, and comes together in 30 minutes. It’s ideal for wraps, bowls, or even salad toppings.
Ingredients:
1 lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper
For the Wraps:
- Pita or flatbread
- Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion
- Garlic sauce or tahini
Instructions:
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine yogurt, oil, lemon juice, and all spices. Add chicken, coat well, and marinate at least 15 minutes (or overnight for stronger flavor).
Cook the Chicken
Grill or pan-fry on medium heat until fully cooked and slightly charred. Slice into strips.
Assemble Shawarma Wraps
Fill pita with chicken, veggies, and sauce. Roll tightly and serve warm.
Optional Additions
Add hummus, pickles, or lettuce for a build-your-own shawarma platter.
